How to import your etsy products into wix - the easy way (use chatgpt)

If you’re moving from Etsy to a Wix store, you’ve probably discovered that the two platforms use very different product formats.

Wix requires a specific CSV template with exact column names and limits, while Etsy exports in a completely different structure.

If you try to upload your Etsy export straight into Wix, you’ll likely get the dreaded “0 products imported” message.

Don’t worry — here’s how to fix that fast.

Step 1: Export Your Etsy Listings

  1. Log into your Etsy Shop Manager.

  2. Go to Settings → Options → Download Data.

  3. Choose Currently for sale listings and click Download CSV.

This gives you a file named something like EtsyListingsDownload.csv.

Step 2: Get the Official Wix Import Template

  1. In your Wix dashboard, open Store Products → Import.

  2. Click Download Template to get the CSV format Wix expects.

  3. This file contains all the correct column headers and examples.

Don’t change or delete any columns — Wix needs these exact names.

Step 3: Clean and Match the Data

The Etsy export includes lots of text and formatting that Wix can’t read, like emojis, long titles, or special symbols.

Here’s what you need to fix:

✅ Remove emojis and special characters.

✅ Keep product names under 80 characters.

✅ Simplify descriptions to 1–2 short sentences.

✅ Round all prices to whole numbers.

✅ Keep your real variants (like size, color, or material).

✅ Leave image fields blank — you can add them later in Wix.

Step 4: Use ChatGPT to Automate Everything

Instead of manually editing hundreds of rows, you can use ChatGPT to automatically clean, match, and reformat your entire Etsy export.

Here’s the exact prompt that we used to do this successfully:

I have two CSV files — my Etsy listings export and the official Wix product import template. Please convert my Etsy file into a Wix-compatible import CSV that follows all of Wix’s requirements: remove emojis and special characters, limit product names to 80 characters, simplify descriptions to one or two sentences, round prices, and include each product’s correct variants (color, size, material, etc.) from the Etsy data. Leave image fields blank, keep the correct column names and order from the Wix template, and make sure each product has a Product row and matching Variant rows so it imports cleanly into Wix Stores.

Just upload both files when ChatGPT asks, paste the prompt, and it will generate a clean, import-ready file you can download and upload directly to Wix.

Step 5: Import the Clean File into Wix

  1. In your Wix dashboard, go to Store Products → Import.

  2. Upload the cleaned CSV file from ChatGPT.

  3. Wait for the import to process — it may take a few minutes.

  4. Review your products to make sure descriptions, prices, and variants look correct.

If everything went well, you’ll now see all your Etsy products successfully imported into your Wix store!
